I just downloaded AutoTools and created a simple Macrodroid test macro to activate the flashlight on my Samsung S5 Neo. Flashlight does not come on, and I get an "AutoTools action error" - "No input" notification. Any idea where I've gone wrong?

Sorry, I have no idea how Macrodroid works. Does it generally support Tasker plugins?

Yes it does. Macros have triggers, actions, and constraints. One of the action options is "Locale/Tasker Plugin". Installing AutoTools automatically adds 31 AutoTools "Locale/Tasker Plugin" options, including "AutoTools Flashlight". Selecting "AutoTools Flashlight" leads to "State" and "Pattern" settings.

    Do other AutoTools actions work?

Please could you suggest an action that I should test? Also, how to verify that granting
    WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS was successful?

You could try an AutoTools Dialog action for example. Does that work? To granting of that permission is successful if, when granting it, there's no error message.

AutoTools Dialog action works fine, no error or other notification.

If I add the flashlight action to the same macro, the original error notification returns.

It took me a while to figure out exactly how to grant the permission, but ultimately there was no error message.

Another test - AutoTools Secure Settings action - various display options:

Color Inversion - works, no error notification.

Screen Orientation - switch to landscape does not work, but no error notification. Correction - works, my bad.

Full Immersive Mode - works, no error notification.

Adaptive Brightness Level - does not work, and error notification says "AutoTools action error - Can't change setting on this device. You cannot..."

    Thank you.

Can you please export your task's description (not xml) so I can take a look? The flashlight one I mean. Long-click the task in Tasker->export description Thanks in advance

I don't have Tasker. I'm using MacroDroid. The Macro has one trigger and one action. The trigger is the proximity sensor. The action is "Locale/Tasker Plugin", using the "AutoTools Flashlight" plugin.

The macro has been disabled since my original post, when it was returning the "AutoTools action error" message. I just re-enabled it to get the details for this reply, and guess what - it is now working, and there is no error message. I will repeat the other tests I made and report back here.

The following (still) work, no error notifications:
    - Dialog
    - Color Inversion
    - Screen Orientation.
    - Full Immersive Mode

Adaptive Brightness Level still does not work, error notification still says "AutoTools action error - Can't change setting on this device. You cannot..."

Yeah, that happens for some settings on some devices. Nothing I can do really, sorry!

Glad the flashlight is working though! :) Thanks!
