AutoLocation Restarting geofences

I've been encountering what I would call a stale position where I'm well outside the geofence, but autolocation still thinks I'm inside. I stop and start geofences and it updates. Is there something else I should do? Not sure I can just restart it on a timer and working like this isn't going to work real well for me.
