When I receive a notification from Gmail, a 'Gmail' message/sound plays from Tasker. It works exactly as intended, except...

...if I don't read that message and receive another email on top of it, the 'Gmail' sound plays 3 consecutive times.

Why does it do this? What is causing it? Is there anything I can do to stop it? I want the sound to play only once per incoming email message.

That happens because the GMail app creates 3 quick consecutive notifications. Unfortunately that's a behaviour I can't change, sorry! :(

Oh! sorry about that! I didn't even notice that the request was for AutoNotification :( My bad. Will have to think of something for that, thanks

Is there anything that can be done on behalf of Tasker to stop this?

If the new function in AN doesn't work, I've used this inside my Task for repeated SMS...

    A1: Stop [ With Error:Off Task: ] If [ %SMSRN ~ %SMSsender & %TIMES < %SMStime + 3 ]
    A2: Variable Set [ Name:%SMSsender To:%SMSRN Do Maths:Off Append:Off ]
    A3: Variable Set [ Name:%SMStime To:%TIMES Do Maths:Off Append:Off ]

You basically set a variable (Time) and check for it. For your scenario, I think you could simply do Math and check for number and clear after a certain about of time.
