Open Join doesn't send notifications from my phone to my Mac until I jog it

What I mean by "jog" is, for example if I make a phone call, it triggers the last few hours' notifications to appear on my iMac screen. How can I find out what's stopping Join from pushing each notification to the iMac instantly? The diagnostics on both devices show no problems.

Hi there. Is your device rooted by any chance?

Yes it is. It's an HTC 10. I do use the stock ROM, haven't changed anything except rooting (and replacing the stock recovery as necessary).

With rooted devices the issue is almost always some third party app that's somehow "killing" or "halting" other apps. In this case maybe notifications aren't delivered to Join instantly and only when you wake up the device to save battery?

It's definitely some kind of sleep-wake cycle, but wherever my apps and settings offer to save energy or kill tasks I've told them to spare Join's life... I think... I'll now check that!

Also, make sure to spare the notification service's life as well :) Thanks!

I just discovered none of my accessibility services were enabled, including Join's. No idea how they got the idea to switch off!

Hmm, but that shouldn't have any effect on this... Only the notification listener has to be enabled for notifications to be sent

On my phone, there's no sign of a notification system app that I can control so nothing I can do.

Ok, so, go to Android Settings -> Apps -> Cogwheel at the top right -> Special Access -> Notification Access and Join should be listed there. Is it enabled there? that's the service I meant :)

My Settings > Apps has no cogwheel. The top right skinny hamburger control has:
    Configure apps
Show system [i.e. show system apps]
    Sort by size
    Reset app preferences

I do have "Notification access" as an item in the Sound & Notification settings.
It shows Join and my launcher as enabled, and always has done to my knowledge.

Ok. Glad you found it. :) That's the only system service that's needed related to Join for notifications to come through.

Just the one already mentioned and the ability to access the internet.
