Do any of you have SmartThings? I have a SmartThings hub and several things to go with it like a plug, motion, and some door sensors.

Does anyone know a way to get Tasker to get the status of motion? For example, I have a motion detector at my front door. It was be cool if I could get Tasker to notify me of motion detected.

I don't think there is a plugin for that. You would have to know if SmartThings was calling device status using some type of http requests. I use Vera and there is an AutoVera app which I think Joao uses but not SmartThings.

Possibly, you could go to the developer tools view of Chrome or Firefox as an example and as you execute things on the SmartThings website interface you can see the http calls it makes. It's possible you can do GET with an http link and store as a variable. **Possibly**

I've seen it on YouTube but I too haven't tried it. I downloaded it right now (its free) but the Tasker plugin portion of it is $2.99. Granted that is cheap but I am reluctant to buy it until I have seen some video on motion. The motion aspect of SmartThings is the thing I am most interested in.

I'm the developer of SharpTools and I can confirm that SharpTools does indeed work very well with motion events. You would subscribe to the motion event by long-pressing on the desired "Thing" within SharpTools and then selecting "Subscribe to motion". From there, you would setup a "Thing State" event plugin in Tasker to react to your events.

Here's a tutorial including a video showing how to set it up and how it all works:

I would also note that the Tasker plugins and widgets each come with a 7-day trial. Just start using the Tasker features and SharpTools will prompt you to start your 7-day trial.

I can recommend sharptools plugin. Been using it over a month and manage my smart home just fine.
