Open SMS Doesn't Update After Initial Connection

During initial setup everything goes fine and all diagnostic tests come back green. After the initial connection and synchronization the SMS information is never updated, the SMS pop-out just flashes "contacts is not yet updated. . ." until it fails after the 6th attempt. I have uninstalled and re-installed multiple times ensuring to delete all app config and data files from my phone between installs, but the same problem persists.

My Drive account has three files under the "Join Files" folder. I have deleted the entire folder structure between installs and three files are created again after a re-install. The three files there now:
