It stopped working a few days ago. Sending over wifi from phone to EG still works perfectly

If you're not on the local network anymore, and the IP address that Autoremote has as your public IP has changed (is not static), it's not going to be able to communicate with your device.

    "19:50:01 Calling url http://192.168.0.101:1817/
19:50:11 803: Couldn't make request via local network: <urlopen error [Errno 10060] A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond>"

That is a local IP address and won't work if you're not on the local network ie your wifi

    1) clear the app's cache (home screen>menu>settings>applications>manage applications>downloaded>handcent sms>)
    2) disable mobile network, then re-enable it (home screen>menu>settings>wireless networks>mobile network)

if you try 1 & it doesn't work--try 2, if that doesn't work then i'm out of ideas (apart from a factory reset--but that seems a little drastic)

are you still able to get online via 3g/4g and/or use google talk and send emails/make calls?

if 1 or 2 doesn't work, i'd call VZW tech support and ask them. they're not the greatest, but they can do things over the network that you or i can't (rooted or not)
