    Hi everyone,

I'm looking to use Tasker and AutoNotifications to block certain notifications when I am at work (Facebook, ESPN, basically stuff not relevant to my job).

Ideally this "profile" would trigger when I connect to my work wifi.

    I have two questions:
    1. Is this possible?
    2. Could you give me a quick "how to" or point me to some tutorials that would achieve the notification blocking?

    Things to note:
    • A) Rooting is not an option for me. I'm too reliant on things like my bank's NFC payment system that will stop working if I root my device. I'm aware of the method that uses the secure settings app.
    • B) Do not disturb mode is also not an ideal option because I use DND mode to block all notifications for when I'm sleeping, at the cinema, or in a meeting.
    • C) A continuation of B: I will (once I figure this out) create other profiles such as profiles for being connected to my car's bluetooth, my bluetooth headset for the gym etc. - this means do not disturb mode will not work as I will use more than one profile rather than just "at work" and "not at work".

You cannot block notifications entirely, you can simply dismiss them as soon as they arrive. Would that be enough for you?

ok, cool. Create a profile with the AutoNotification Intercept event condition and select the apps you want to dismiss automatically. Then in the task use AutoNotification cancel to cancel those notifications.

    Hope this helps!

Just an update note - as of June 2017 AutoNotification now supports full blocking of notifications based on app name, or title/text/etc. The blocking and un-blocking can be completely controlled with Tasker.
Also - even when notifications are blocked - AutoNotification still receives them and can act on them from its Event Intercept Profile. So you can finally fully 'replace' notifications from any app with your own custom ones.

    Hi all,
I just bought this morning this amazing plugin. Really well done!
Only one thing: I spent time to try to figure out what I'm trying to do... and I found this post!
What @Tasker Pro said is exactly what I looking for. Thanks!
I want to replace WhatsApp, Telegram, etc notification with my custom one.
From what I understood from Tasker post, it is possible. Is it right?
I have tried... but without success :(

I have Android 7.1 and here what I have done:
    - I have blocked all the notification from "App Info" screen, then the result is "Notifications: Blocked".
    - Tasker -> Profiles -> Add Event -> AutoNotification Intercept -> Task -> Notify

But unfortunatelly seems Tasker/AutoNotification doesn't intercept the notification and no custom notification.
    Just nothing happen :(

The only way I found (but doesn't work very well) is:
    - All "App Info" notifications enabled.
    - Tasker -> Profiles -> Add Event -> AutoNotification Intercept -> Task -> AutoNotification Block -> Notify

But unfortunatelly Tasker/AutoNotification show up the original notification and after 1 second kill the original one and show up the custom. Definetelly is not what I want :p

    Therefore here I am.

Please, can you help me to understand and maybe figure out this?
I really want to block all the chat apps notifications and just display my custom one.

    Thank you all.
    Cheers

YES! Helped a LOT! :) Thank you so much :p
I'm sorry for noob questions :p

    PS
I think the "KEY" about everything is: "Block message -> Only needs to be ran once. "
    I understood! Thanks again!

If they are persistent no, there's no way. If they are not periststent you just need to disable the block and new ones should show up.

    Hi there

I need to know how possible it is for the following, on Whatsapp:

    1. Ability to mute specific groups at specific times (for example, my Audio Profiles App changes to Day Mode at 05h00 and changes to night mode at 22h00). Is it possible for the same thing to happen to my Whatsapps?

    2. Secondly, is it possible for the same to be done for specific contacts? Such as my girlfriend would be able to contact me at any time, 247 but specific contacts would only be able to contact me between, let's say 08h00 and 17h00.

So essentially, I need to selectively block specific groups and contacts during time periods, etc. Is this possible? and if yes, how would I go about it? I'm not very clued up with Tasker, so pretty much I would need a step by step guide on how to achieve the above.

Rooting my phone is unfortunately not an option..
