Can't Fix Encryption between shared devices

Hi everyone,

I borrowed my wife's phone and I shared her phone to mine and mine to hers in Join using our respective Gmail accounts. I have end-to-end encryption enabled on my Join devices and I enabled it on her phone using the same password. When I push anything back and forth it shows encrypted gibberish on the screen or I see the message invalid URL.

So I reset the password under Settings > Encryption on both phones and then both devices can push to each other as expected. Turning encryption back on for both (using the same password again) brought back the gibberish and invalid URL messages.

Could I be doing something wrong setting setting up encryption or sharing between the phones or are there still some unknowns with encryption between shared devices?
