AutoLocation AutoLocation Geofences require Google Location History/Monitoring?

    I have been having issues with my N4s battery life. Particularly Google Play Services draining my battery with wakelocks and high mobile radio active times.

    So I disabled Location Monitoring in Google settings and am not experiencing the drain anymore.

    However I have recently noticed Geofences have been inconsistent. Sometimes never exiting/entering.

    Is AutoLocation dependant on Google Location Monitoring?

    It makes sense as the Geofences API is provided by Google.

    If so, any ideas how I can still get reliable Geofences and decent battery life?

    Hi there.

    Geofences do need google location monitoring, yes.

    I have geofences on 24/7 and I don't experience any significant battery drain. Are you sure it isn't some other app that's using the location service besides AutoLocation? Or maybe you're using the AutoLocation location monitor as well somewhere?
