I created a task to cast a song and set google home to level 5.
I created autocast plug in with control media. Used 50 as the volume level setting.
It does nothing to the volume level on the Google home.

Sorry about that, that setting is meant to be used when AutoCast itself is casting something. It'll change the volume then. It doesn't change the general Google Home volume.

Is there a way to do that?

Hi there. I too am looking for a way to change the volume on the actual GH device itself. This would be really useful as often the volume gets changed during the day by various folk and the last thing you want is whatever you cast via AutoCast to blast out at full vol or not be able to hear it at all.

I know you have said above it can't do it right now but you sort of imply it might be able to. Any idea if you will any time soon?

A typical scenario might be a simple alarm. Given that the GH volume can be anything from zero to max, the problem is that when you cast something to it with a given volume it doesn't make much odds as GH could be anything.

The updated version you posted works great! I can use it to control the volume on my home mini! Oops spoke too soon. It's close but often causes me to lose my casting connection when the task runs.

I'll test it out and update post to report back for you after school =)

Update: It works! I was able to create an automation that plays random music from my play music library and increases up to 100% over a 15 minute period!! Before I was using messy Google assistant workaround. Thanks so much!

Need to pick that thread up.
With your new version I can change the GH's volume, which is great!
But I just want to change the volume for that one speak action, because I want the media I play next to have the same volume as before (I like to listen music on low volume but then the speak action is hard to understand).

If I use control media before the speak action it makes the volume even lower with all settings (even volume set to 100).
    Is this a bug?

You should use the Device Settings action to set the volume, the use the Speak action to speak, then use the Device Settings action again to set the volume back to what it was :)

This adds extra time till the cast is activated. Also I don't know what the volume was before.

Not demanding anything, but would it be possible to set volume directly in the cast action in future versions?

So the Speak action itself would have a volume option which would make it just speak at that volume and then revert back, is that it? :)

Yeah, that's it! I don't want to change the volume of the device, just of this Speak Action (because a volume which is okay for listening to music in the background is to low to understand spoken notifications. And I want to listen to the music at the same volume afterwards)

Would be great, If you could add this!

Ola to all and happy new years.
I use the volume level for a while but recently it doesn't change anymore on Google home.
    Is it only me?

Hi. It's still working for me. Try removing and re-adding the cast device in the main AutoCast app and see if that helps...

Hello there, I was trying something similar without success.
I have a task, launching a music app, with autoinput I connect to the homemini and start the music. After that I want to periodically increase the volume via autocast.
But it seems to not work at all. I use the device action and entered %CASTVOL as my variable for the volume..?!
Deleted the homemini within the app and added it again, as you suggested. Anything I do wrong?

Edit; seems like my home mini is listed twice. When I set it to the second entry it worked. Don't know what the difference between both device-entries would be. But I'm fine now :)
