I've been trying for ~1month now, reading guides and searching the web, but I can't make it work. I want to make a button notification with 4 buttons to control my PC's power, volume and browser. I wish to power off, adjust volume and close browser remotely. How do I create this and set it up to work correctly? I tried following guides from ie XDA and Reddit, but they seem to be written for expert users and as such does not have a "step by step" portion.
I was looking for this exact profile/setup, but in written for beginners. https://www.xda-developers.com/control-your-pc-from-your-android-device-with-tasker-part-1/
Well, to be honest it just say create buttons etc.. it doesn't say how. I didn't want to use the imported profile as I wanted to learn by doing, but perhaps I'm better off by studying the XML file...
I managed to setup both eventghost and the Tasker profiles, but I get no notification on my device to control the PC.
I can't seem to get my PC registered in autoremote (Android side). Clicking test in any event/action on eventghost gives error. What I did was using the pre-configured profiles and register my Android in eventghost, replacing device name in all tasks with my devicename. Edit: sending message to Android device works now, but it says it's from "unknown". And when sending an action from my Android it says my key is invalid. What isthat? How do I set my PC as a known device?
Well I managed to (don't know how) get my PC registered and now I face a connection refused error, when trying to send a command thru autonotification/autoremote/Tasker. Edit: is it an absolute requirement to have chrome on the PC to make this work? Isn't eventghost enough? I really do not want to have chrome running just to send simple commands to my PC.
You can make it work with Chrome but you'll need to have direct access to EventGhost's IP address. Can you have that?
I managed to make my Android send commands to my PC. However it seems that the profile imported for eventghost isn't compatible with Windows 10. It throws errors in setmastervolume when I send a command to change volume. It does not respond to lock command either. Is there an updated profile for Windows 10? Also I noticed that if I open the profile in eventghost, edit it to connect to my Android, save it and reboot my PC, eventghost does not load that config again. It loads an empty default profile...?
I did a fresh install and still the same. Isthere a specific folder to place the profile in, to make it autostart on launch?
Hmm, what location do you have it saved in now? Is it maybe a location that's not available on boot like an external drive?
I have it in my downloads folder. I noticed that eventghost fail at the command (taken from the FAQ) eg.plugins.System.SetMasterVolume(eg.event.payload.arcomm It seems that this does not work on Windows 10, and itis pointing to the system folder. I do not know how to set up a profile for remotely control the volume of my PC (which is the most crucial function for me) from scratch, hence why I used the pre-made profile from the XDA guide.
