Open Tasker unable to Enable/Disable SMS

I must be doing something wrong. For some reason, I cannot enable or disable join settings from Tasker any longer.

accessibility settings are all enabled and nothing out of the ordinary shows up when I run the log.

Actually, it worked with a force close and a Join Re-launch

The issue seems to be with the other device. Infinite loading wheel when trying to request SMS info

 

I'm sorry, I wasn't very clear in my last post:
I'm trying to create a profile that enables/disables SMS on a secondary device.

Enabling/Disabling works now (by force closing)
This issue seems to be w/ the secondary device loading SMS data

When I Go into Remote SMS, the app just hangs. Force Close and re-open and it happens again.
So, even though I'm able to enable/disable SMS and Call Service via Tasker on my primary phone,
The secondary phone (MotoG4 - Android Nougat) isn't able to receive sms messages b/c it is unable to load Remote SMS.

 

...still hanging.
I get a
"Requested SMS Info for SMS and Contact Info..."
toast but nothing happens. Ever.
Uninstalled/Reinstalled.
Enabled/Re-enabled
entered number in again.
made sure it wasn't blocked..
not sure what else to do....
