AutoTools Require your fingerprint to run an app

Learn how to protect an app so that it closes if your fingerprint is not recognized

joaomgcd submitted a new AutoApps project:

Make app only run with your fingerprint - Prevent an app from running if your fingerprint is not recognized when opening it.

I am new to Tasker and I love this. One question. Is there a way to completely block what is behind the message so you can't see the content?

Just create a scene to cover it

Great little task! I've got it working as intended, but does anyone else notice an AutoTools window displaying AutoTools dialogue box in recent apps list, regardless of whether the the fingerprint is successful or not?

Any way to dismiss that as a followup action? I've managed it with AutoInput, but only if the Overview/Recent Apps list is opened manually.

Someone could explain how to create a scene and then configure it to be behind the dialog?

@icadblack unfortunately I don't think there's a way to make that go away, but I'll give it another shot. Thanks

@nirmitlamed Tasker scenes disappear when an AutoTools dialog is created unfortunately. I don't know a way around it...

Thanks for the heads up; I'll be sure to have a play around as well and let you know if I find any interesting methods.

    Good news! It does work.

Possibly bad news! Now, if the dialogue box is cancelled (or the fingerprint fails too many times), the user can just get back into the app being protected by accessing the app in the recent items list, without the fingerprint dialogue being re-triggered.

I noticed this too. It was so close to being perfect. I haven't been able to figure out a way to fix it.

hmm, but does that mean that the Tasker profile isn't being triggered again?

Everything works great until you hit the recent key while the fingerprint dialogue box is open. From there you can just select the app that is supposed to be blocked and go right into it.

Does the task continue running when you hit the recents key?

Actually now that you asked that I do see an AutoTools action error - Fingerprint operation canceled. So it looks like the task is canceled when you hit the recents menu.

Then you can make it go home if it's cancelled too :)

Forgive me. I'm so new to this. How do I create the task to go home if the recent apps button is hit to get into the locked app?

I can't get it to work on my Galaxy s5...

EDIT: Sorry that doesn't help AT ALL, autotools doesn't recognise that my phone has a fingerprint scanner

I can't get it quite working. It recoginizes the fingerprint on my bullhead (Nexus 5X), and then drops back to Nova Launcher's app drawer.

Nexus 5X, Android 7.1.1, unrooted, AutoTools and Tasker, most recent.

I'm trying to get it to play a notification sound just before the popup on a fail, but although it plays inside tasker, in the real world it doen't, I even put a wait in, any ideas?
