I have a GPS bike computer that can display notifications from my phone. Unfortunately it only displays sms messages.
Most of my text communications these days are via WhatsApp, so I'd like to create a fake sms notification based on received WhatsApp messages that pipes the content to my handlebars.
I presume the app for the GPS on my phone is hooked in to the sms notifications, and that it grabs the data to display this way. Is there a way of creating this notification using AN?

    Thanks!
    Mark

If you have free sms messages you could simply send yourself SMS messages for every whatsapp notification :) Would that work?

I'm sure it would, but it seems clumsy! And doesn't make me use a new plugin for tasker

That's true :) Are you able to choose which SMS app to sync notifications from?

Yes, I think so (but the notifications I need to watch are from WhatsApp aren't they?)

Can you change the app to watch to AutoNotification instead of the SMS app? :)

You said you can change what app's notifications are sent to the watch right?

Ah, I see, sorry. No, the cycle computer just seems to choose the default sms app on the phone.

Oh right. In that case I don't think it's possible, sorry! :(

    Reviving this

I had a working profile that fires when I am riding my bike and receive a WhatsApp
It then used to resend the WhatsApp to me as an sms, which perfectly caused it to be picked up and displayed on the GPS unit.

Now the profile fires but doesn't do anything.
The problem appears to be the autonotification section, and I think concerns the use of antextlines and arrays.

How would you structure a task that
    1. Takes a WhatsApp notifcation
    2. Pulls the most recent message from it (ie it might be a thread with multiple messages in it)
    3. Allows me to have the sender and message as different strings to manipulate

I'd be grateful for help as I think I need to do this from scratch!
