After following this tutorial you'll be able to post Facebook status updates easily from anywhere, including automatically from Tasker.
Apps used:
STEP 1 - CREATING ACTION
- Open Join
- Make sure you have the IFTTT device on your device list by following the instructions here.
- Navigate to Actions
- Create a new Custom action
- Set an appropriate icon (I used this one)
- Set a title for the action like Facebook Status
- Set the command to facebook_status
- Set the prompt to What status?
- Select the IFTTT device on your device list
- Click Done
STEP 2 - CREATE IFTTT APPLET
- On IFTTT create a new applet
- For the this part select the Webhooks service
- Set the event to the same as you set the Join Action command above: facebook_status
- In the that part select Facebook -> Create a status message
- Set the Status message to {{Value1}} (you can use the Add Ingredient button to make it easier to insert it)
- Click on Create Action
- Click on Finish
STEP 3 - TESTING
- On your phone click the Facebook Status action
- Click on Run
- Insert a test facebook status and click Ok
If you now check Facebook you'll see that a status update has been posted for you!
STEP 4 - ENABLE VOICE
- Edit the created Join action and enable Use Voice
- Run the action again (check out how you can run it by holding the Join icon on your launcher)
- Say something to post as the Facebook status update
As you can see you can easily post status updates by voice as well!
STEP 5 - POST STATUS FROM TASKER
- Create a new Tasker task
- Add the Join Actions Tasker action
- Select the Facebook Status action
- Set Value 1 to the status you want to set. This could be anything from Tasker, like variables, states, etc!
- Run the Task to post the status update
You can now automate your Facebook Status updates to your heart's desire!
