AutoVoice add microphone gain control

initially had a webcam microphone connected to shield tv with full os installed and rooted. was working ok but the mic is not that great in it. So i recently got kinect v2 and connected that, the mic seems to work but doesnt pick up continues commands unless screaming into the mirophone from 10cms away. I noticed it works a lot better if i manually lunch the voice app compared to when its set to continues. I know there recording software that have gain control but those only run when the apps is open, and was wondering if this can be integrated into autovoice or i can use another program thats is always on and run in the background
