I'd like to set up an IFTTT -> Tasker command to trigger an intent on a phone app. I can set this up via Join readily enough, but my concern is that if my phone isn't available, the command will fail and I won't have any other method to handle it.

Is there a way to "cache" the commands if Tasker isn't available in order to process it, it will just sit and wait until it makes the connection? Does that happen automatically and this is an unnecessary question?

Yes, that should happen automatically. But in any case, I'd recommend having an always on device like a Raspberry pi with Node-RED :)

So, how would that work for me, then? I'm intrigued. Would node-red be able to check whether my phone's available and do something to dispatch the action?

Sorry, no, I meant that Node-RED can do a lot of stuff by itself and it could replace the phone in many situations :)
