AutoRemote Chrome extension : Error getting personal key

After installing the extension to Chrome Version 41.0.2272.89 on Windows XP SP3, I click the extension icon on the top right of chrome but I get a broken image url and in settings I get the "Error getting personal key. Refresh this page to try again. Please contact the developer is the problem persists." error. I get this error on both machines I have at work but strangely I still receive notifications on one of them that used to have a url. Trying to add devices through the extension on chrome I also get : Error Checking URL
Any tips on how to fix this?
