Open Join causing all photos I get in texts to be saved to Google Photos

Hey all,
I've been having this problem for a few months now and it is getting really annoying. From what I can tell, Join is backing up photos that are sent in texts to Google Drive so it can sync them between my devices. These are then put into my photos timeline, cluttering things up. My google photos are all shared with my family, so it messes them up too.

Has anyone found a way to keep this from happening? It's really annoying!

yea, i went into google photos settings on my laptop and unchecked the box that says "sync photos and videos from google drive." im trying to figure out how to stop Join from saving stuff to my drive completely, as you will clearly see a Join folder in your drive containing the offending content within, that way i can re-enable the drive backup feature. its really annoying getting a picture text of any kind, in any app: messages, allo, hangouts etc. and having it saved to my personal google photos gallery.
