Open Join eating my SMS messages Galaxy S8

So I will receive a notification of a message on my PC, but when I go to my SMS app (stock Samsung Messages) it will not be there. If I go to the SMS/Phone section on Join it wont be there either.

This happens not all the time but is beyond frustrating

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Service provider is TMobile if that matters.

 

I'm having the same issue but I'm not 100% sure it's because of Join. I deleted the app from my phone and I think it continued happening but is really really hard to confirm.

 

I messed about a bit more to try and clarify the exact issue. The symptom is that some incoming text messages never generate an alert and are not viewable in any text message app. In join, they are also not viewable in the sms pane but, oddly, do show up in the notification panel.
So somehow the text is being received by the phone but never gets to a notification or the messages app.
