AutoContacts Look up Contact Group

I updated to Oreo and it would appear the built in messenger app will no longer allow you to assign a ringtone to a specific contact or contact group.

I changed the app's notification sound to Silent and created a task to play a specific ringtone based on the source of the message. That works fine, but I need to list every number that requires a ringtone in the task. Using Auto Contacts is there to determine if an incoming message is from someone in a contact group (ie. co-worker, family, friends et.)?

I know you can create a profile in Tasker based on a message from a contact or contact group, but for some reason they are not firing when a message is received.
