Solved SMS/Contacts Permissions not checked after TitaniumBackup restore

I recently switched ROMs on my HTC 10 on Marshmallow, and found that after restoring Join from TitaniumBackup, my SMS weren't syncing via Join.

Checked the settings in Join, and everything seemed to be enabled, but it wouldn't pass on the diagnostics.

It turned out to be a simple fix; just disable the SMS toggle, then re-enable it, after which Join re-requests the app permissions needed from the OS for the user to approve.

Obviously it's something of a fringe case, but could a check for these permissions be added to the app on startup, so that users can be notified by the OS to re-enable access for Join if required?
