Open SMS works, but does not send until at least 10min

I just started using Join, so maybe I'm missing, but all the tests/diagnostics have gone through successfully, so I'm not sure if there is anything I need to set up for SMS beyond turning it on.
I used the chrome extension to send out a SMS. It looked like it sent out, but my phone does not update with the message sent out until a while later. However, it shows as sent from Join.
I receive SMS just fine through the extension. The only problem is sending out.
