AutoRemote "unknown issue with google play services"

Hi,
I am getting this error whenever I try to sign in. After googling a bit, I have tried wiping play service cache, and even disabled and re-enabled (and re-installed) play services. Re-installing play services did seem to log in, but only for a while, then it reverted to the "unknown issue with google play services" error.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
