AutoNotification Variables not appearing for selection

I've created a profile with AutoNotification intercept for Pulse (my sms app). It runs a task wherein I want to "Mark as Read" the incoming sms after some processing. So in the task I created an AutoNotification Action, set the app to "Pulse" and under Advanced, I set the ID to %anbutton3action. Works great. BUT I've tried to replicate this on another project and I don't get the AutoNotification variables listed when I try to select them. I haven't found any pattern as to why sometimes the %an... variables are available for selection and other times not. What needs to be done to cause those vars to appear for selection in a task?
